It’s time for the annual Iowa Chapter BMWCCA Picnic again!! This year the venue will be the “Bob Shetler Picnic Area site #2” This is a hidden treasure just south of the Saylorville Dam. To get there, take the road across the top of the dam west, then south and wrap around to the entrance of the Bob Shetler Camping and Picnic Area. The roadway will wind north and bend right to the east to go over the outlet to the Des Moines River, then bend back south. Follow this past the camping area entrance and this will wind around to the east and then at the intersection take a right, there is a sign just follow this about 1/8th mile south and voila!! You have arrived at the site of the best picnic in the park….
This shelter has ELECTRICITY, good parking, restrooms and a playground area near by. The date this year is Saturday July 18. The event will be from noon to 3 pm or when ever we decide to leave. Burgers, brats and a veggie option will be provided along with a nice selection of beverages. So bring your appetite, a side item to share and come join in the fun and camaraderie.
As an added challenge I would like to start a new tradition, inviting anyone who has an ice cream freezer and a closely guarded family recipe to bring that along as we have electricity this year to power ice cream makers. Please RSVP me if you plan to do the ICE CREAM Challenge so I will know how much ice to bring. Mark your calendars and polish up those cars. See you in July!
