Our annual picnic and chapter membership meeting is planned for Saturday, May 20. It will be held in Grinnell, at the Arbor Lake Shelter, 123 Pearl Street. In addition to the picnic itself, the meeting will include award presentations, door prizes, and the announcement of our board election results.
If you want to purchase tickets for the Iowa Cubs game in July, that can also be easily accomplished!
If you plan to attend, please bring a side dish and/or a dessert to share—we will provide the rest. The shelter is ours from 10 AM to 3 PM, setup and socialization will be starting at 11, with the meal around noon and the annual meeting afterwards.
If you have any questions about the event, contact email@example.com . See you there!

Have you ever thought about driving to the home of “X” (Greer, SC)? How about a fun drive with your CCA compadres, stopping every 200+ miles (I’m assuming there will be at least one M2 or a Z3/Z4 make the trip!) for some roadside fare? If yes, then consider joining the Iowa BMWCCA chapter on a caravan to Bimmerlife MiX Enthusiast Weekend https://mx1.bmwcca.org) The current dates for MX1 are June 23 – 25. (Schedule of events is not yet finalized.)
We’d drive a day or two before in a caravan. Lots of things are left to figure-out yet when it comes to details (route, possible overnight city, possibly joining another caravan coming from Chicago, etc.), so just gauging interest right now. Interested? Let fellow chapter member Keith Kratochvil (firstname.lastname@example.org) know and we’ll be in touch!
Pyra was the name of a little settlement just south of Des Moines that became what today is known as the City of Norwalk. Though our restaurant building doesn’t go quite as far back as Pyra the village, it is nearly 120 years old, and so our name serves as a tribute to our past, and to the history of our hometown. In keeping with the historical theme we have created at Pyra, we serve Traditional Neapolitan pizza, or Pizza Napoletana; a style of pizza created in Naples, Italy more than a century ago.

On April 15, the Iowa Chapter of BMW CCA and the Iowa Zoomin’ Z’s will co-host a fun spring drive.
The East group will meet at 9:15 at Fleet Farm Store in Cedar Rapids (4650 Cross Point Blvd NE), have a short drivers meeting and hit the road at 9:45 for a 2 hour drive on the back roads of eastern Iowa, meeting the West group for lunch at Legends American Grill in Marshalltown (2902 South Center St). Following lunch, we will take another scenic 2-hour drive back to Cedar Rapids.
The West group will meet at 9:00 at BMW of Des Moines (9631 Hickman Rd, Urbandale) to start an adventurous drive to our lunch rendezvous with the East group in Marshalltown. The round-trip drive will take roads most of us have never been on.
The East group is led by Warren Byerly (319-360-7567, email@example.com) and the West group by Chip Nelson (515-822-1627, info@LetsPackage.com). Be sure to sign up today for the drive with either sponsoring group.
You can make the check-in process a bit easier on event day too – complete your liability waivers ahead of time at https://ews.bmwcca.org/sign/01gt7mnve9dqgwbe86vsgryj93. This is an online system that BMW CCA provides for chapter use. It will have both adult and minor waivers.
Note Date changed from the 11th to the 18th.
We are just about out of seats for the Billy Vee’s dining out Tuesday, April 18th @ 6:30pm. If you’re interested you MUST RSVP to Rick Talbot to claim your place. Due to the size of the venue and staffing, they WON’T be able to accomodate any walk-ins.
We have made a reservation for just twelve members to enjoy a wonderful evening together at a local, family run Italian restaurant. A number of Iowa Chapter folks have made previous visits so it is well-recommended. The restaurant was formerly located in Valley Junction and is now in Clive. Read about Billy and Pam’s history here. https://billyveesdsm.wixsite.com/billyvees/our-story.
It is a smaller restaurant and they’ve agreed to accomodate our group…BUT…you MUST RSVP to ensure you have a place at the table. Please let Rick Talbot firstname.lastname@example.org or 515-782-1429 know of your desires not later than Monday, April 3rd. Yes, we know that’s a long way off…but these 12 seats are likely to go FAST…(in fact, I highly suspect/know that as I write this little note the end of January, 6-8 are already spoken for ). Put the pedal down and make your reservation now!
The restaurant’s location is in the middle of a small retail center at 9968 Swanson Blvd in Clive ; across the street from Willis Infinity and adjacent to “Play It Again Sports”…you won’t see a large marquis sign but merely a simple a-frame sign out front on the sidewalk confiming you’ve found it! There is plenty of off-street parking…but sorry, you’ll have to park your own BMW..no valet service 😉
The broad Italian menu features all home made items including a variety of homemade pastas (their lasagna is excellent!) as well as pizzas. See the menu here to wet your appetite. (Dang..this is hard tro write without you mouth watering in anticipation!). https://billyveesdsm.wixsite.com/billyvees/menu
I hope to be able to share this special dining out with YOU!
Street Survival is a community service effort, aimed at teaching teen drivers much more about car control than they ever had the opportunity to see in Drivers’ Education.
Our volunteers serve as in-car instructors, course workers, and other event staff. Please come on out and give us a hand in helping teens to be better drivers! The life you save may be one of theirs – or yours. Volunteer Registration Link
